The USF Pro 2000 Presented by Continental Tire program traveled to Ohio this past weekend for Rounds 13 and 14 of the season at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Turn 3 Motorsport driver Danny Dyszelski had a strong showing in the Buckeye State, bringing home a podium finish to close the weekend and build momentum toward his next event on the Streets of Toronto.

Dyszelski had solid pace in the sole practice session of the weekend, setting the eighth-fastest time on Friday after a weather-filled pre-event test day on Thursday. Dyszelski set the 12th-quickest time in qualifying, missing out on a top-ten start for race one by less than one-tenth of a second.

In race one Saturday morning, Dyszelski and his Turn 3 Motorsports crew had a plan. Aiming to move forward, the team and driver decided that if they were outside the top-ten by a specific part of the race, they would pit for tires and try and improve their lap time. With lap times setting the grid for race two, it ended up being the right call, which moved Dyszelski well up the running order for the second wheel-to-wheel race of the weekend.

“We were making good progress in race one but made the call to pit to get tires and clean air to better our chances in race two,” Dyszelski said. “The #3 is good, and I know we have the speed and potential for more. We will try again tomorrow, this time starting on the outside of row three in sixth based on the right strategy call from the team.”

Starting sixth in race two, courtesy of his lap time in the first wheel-to-wheel action in the day prior, Dyszelski fought hard and moved forward throughout the race. Staying out of trouble and showing his aggression, Dyszelski crossed the line third and celebrated on the podium.

“I’m happy with a third place today, and it feels great to be back on the podium,” Dyszelski expressed following race two. “After a tough race one, it was to fight near the front, move forward, and ultimately bring home a great result. Thank you to the Turn 3 Motorsport crew for all their hard work this weekend, and I can’t wait to bring this momentum to Toronto.”

The next event for Dyszelski and the rest of the USF Pro 2000 field will be on the streets of Toronto July 19-21 before the season concludes on the West Coast at the Portland International Raceway.
